Life Update Sunday | My Happy Place
Hi Everyone...
Ok, so recently, I've not been feeling 100% myself. Now, whenever I feel overwhelmed or anxious, I like to go to my happy place. But before I get onto my happy place, I'd like to share the story of how it was created.
As you guys know I suffer from anxiety and depression, so whenever I felt like that I use to bottle it all up and not be honest with people about how I am feeling. Whenever I got stressed, I would think oh that's stressful I'll avoid that, until the point were I could no longer avoid the situation and I would end up going is this self distrust mode, hurting not only myself but the people around me, as it made me not a very nice person to be around.
So, I created my happy place (which really makes me sound like a mental person). My happy place is in my bedroom but, before I can feel safe and happy, I need to make sure my room is clean and tidy, with preferably fresh bedding (cus fresh bedding is the best, especially when it's just come out of the tumble dryer). I then like to put on really comfy clothing, take all of my make-up off and just check in with myself and see how I'm feeling. I usually grab my cat at this point and talk it all though with him. Once I've had a good long think about things and sometimes have a little cry, I tend to feel a lot better in myself. Once I've got all of the anxiousness out of my system, I'll put on one of my favourite cd's and either, dance, sing, or cry. At this point I might go for a relaxing bath, with a lush product, or do some songwriting or even experiment with my hair and make-up. It's the smallest things that can make you feel a whole lot better and I can't tell you how important it is to get these things out of your system. Even if it is just a chat and a cry with your cat.
As you guys know one of my new years resolutions is to be more open and more honest about my emotions. Hence this post. I know my happy place might have seemed more like just me time but, this is one of my coping techniques when it comes to stress.
