This time 1 year ago, I traveled to Camden in London all my myself to watch Tegan & Sara perform at KOKO. I was 19 years old, it was one of the most amazing experiences of my life so far. It's so weird to think that this was one year ago, it felt like yesterday. It's also scary to think that this time a year ago London seemed pretty safe and accessible but, now in recent times its sad to see London filled with such terror and fear, my heart goes out to London.
The first time I saw Tegan and Sara perform, was definitely one of the stand out memories for me because, back then I was pretty conflicted with who I was and looking back on it now and thinking about how I was feeling and thinking back then and how things have changed to now and the person I am today, it's just incredible. Going from someone who didn't know who she was or what she stood for to being this much more 'together woman', don't get me wrong I'm still young and figuring out who I am and where I'm going but, this past year I've learnt a lot more about myself and I honestly don't think I could have done this before seeing and meeting Tegan and Sara. They're truly inspirational and everything they stand for is just amazing. They recently started their own charity called the 'Tegan and Sara Foundation' which supports girls and women in the LGBTQ community. In my own experience in the LGBTQ community I've always found it to by very male orientated and with the start up of their new organisation, it's helping to give a voice to women in the LGBTQ community which is very important.
