Style Saturday | McQueen and Burton

Hello Beauties,

Today's post is part 3 of an mini Alexander McQueen series I'm, doing on my blog, if you missed out on "last week's" post, were I talked about McQueen's relationship with the lady that discovered him, Isabella Blow, to catch up click here ~ before continue reading.

Moving swiftly on.. Today I'm going to be talking about Sarah Burton the lady that worked alongside McQueen for years and the one that stepped up in the time of his death. You may have heard of her.. she designed Kate Middleton's wedding dress! No biggy!

McQueen & Burton
Sarah Burton, born 1974, from Cheshire. She like McQueen studied at St Martins she studied Print Fashion and previous to this Fine Art. In Burton's third year at St Martins, she was interviewed for a year-long placement to work for McQueen, she got the placement and in 1997 the year of her graduation she was made McQueen's personal assistant and by the year 2000, she was named head of womenswear for Alexander McQueen. Not to mention she designed clothes for Lady GaGa, Michelle Obama and Gwyneth Paltrow, which are a few amazing accomplishments.

In 2010, following McQueen's tragic death, Burton was named the new creative director of Alexander McQueen. Since then, she has gone onto creating her own menswear collection, including an underwear line, which was proved to be very successful. She has designed numerous clothes for the rich, famous and the royal including Duchess Kate Middleton and her sister Pippa, Kate Moss, Paul McCartney, Rita Ora, Ellie Goulding, Cara Delevigne, Naomi Campbell, Sarah Jessica Parker and many more!

Savage Beauty
The brand as a whole has had a tremendous amount of success and to pay to Alexander's legacy they were invited to showcase some pieces of the McQueen archive in an exhibition called 'Savage Beauty'. The show originally debut in the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York in 2011 but, was back by popular demand by the British and showcased at the V&A between March-August this year.

SS16
I also, couldn't resist talking about the new McQueen show that happened this past week in Paris! Their Spring/Summer 2016 womenswear and menswear collection debut this past week and of course all garments were designed by Burton. The show was live streamed on their website and of course I tuned in and watched the magic happen live!

I love the monochrome pieces that shone out on the catwalk, they were truly beautiful dainty pieces, lots of frills and lace, very romantic and different to what the other brands have put on the catwalk.

I also really liked the soft floral gowns, the patterns were rather understated, which worked perfectly with the dresses as the detailing on them are stunning and a stronger, bolder pattern wouldn't have worked as well with the dresses.

This denim ensemble was probably one of the most talked about outfits, it's taken something so simple and classic (denim) and made it completely different by adding these beautiful embellishments. Also, with the shoes, they kinda look like clogs, right? But they have been completed reinvented! How amazing does this outfit look?
Finally, it wouldn't be a McQueen show without a bird inspired garment. Very creative indeed!

Lots of Love, Hugs and Kisses,
