To top off my summer of 2016, the last weekend in August was Cornwall Pride! I attended the event with my boyfriend and a group of friends which grew as the day went on. I enjoyed the lead up to pride, there was glitter to buy, outfits to organise and face paint designs to try out... not to mention booze and nibbles were essential!
When the day finally arrived, we were rushing around in the morning sorting everyone's make-up out, I gave Adam a glitter beard to match with my starry face! I don't know how I manged it, but myself and my friend (babe) Claire manged to end up in the parade, on the Deja Vu float dancing! It was the best fun ever! Going through town dancing on a float, waving at strangers, posing for pictures while belting out 'This Boy Is On Bottom'.
The parade led to an afternoon in Victoria Gardens. There were stalls and entertainment. We all met up, laid blankets on the grass and had a little picnic, while watching the musicians play. #goodvibes
We then went back to Adam and Martins for afternoon naps, nibbles and hair and make-up prep for the evening. My hair went from pink in the day, to a sassy blue in the evening.. I like to think I was channeling my inner Halsey!
We then headed to the marquee for the evening entertainment, hosted by the fabulous Roxie Moron! Who throughout the evening performed a mixture of songs, from Cabaret to Sia, which of course came along with multiple outfit changes! As for the rest of the evening.. mostly drinking.. dancing.. having an amazing time! We went from there to Deja Vu. I met a sweet girl who was waving like mad at Claire and I during the parade, we took pictures and hung out was lovely to meet more people from the lgbtq community in Cornwall. Basically, the best day! It even felt a little bit like Christmas, especially the lead up!
The morning after we all met for brunch to go over the antics from the night before! Adam couldn't remember a thing! I don't remember seeing him during the evening as I was making loads of new friends. Adams house mate Martin had to escort us home.. which involved Adam having a nervous breakdown as the walk home was just too much.. and me running ahead waving at cars and asking them to take me to church.. which did have a story behind! So I was waving at cars as it felt weird not waving at strangers after the parade and asking them to take me to church as 'A Little Twisted' performed the song earlier in the night.. I'm not crazy I promise! Overall, it was a brilliant weekend apart from the hungover the day after! Same time, next year then?!
