Style Saturday | Demi Lovato | Style Icon

After starring on Camp Rock and growing up in the media, I've followed everymove Demi Lovato has made. She inspired me from such a young age to be myself and speak my mind. Demi is not only a singer but, an actress and an activist, taking a stand to mental health stigma, which is somthing I truly respect about her and given her openess with her personal battles. I've always looked to Demi's style for inspiration whenever I want to change up my wardrobe, I think she has such great taste! She also inspired my recent hair do, although I didn't shave off just as much as she did! If I could describe Demi's style in 3 words it would be young-edgy-confident, emphasis on the confident, she's not afraid to show off her body and try out new things, which is why I'm making her one of my 'style icons'. This is one of my favourite 'street styles' from Demi! I love that this look is quite boho with the flowy kimono and layered accessories, but it's still quite edgy, with the black lace dress and chunky boots, it's true to Demi's rocker image. This look is also so simple and easy to re-create for summer, I'll definitely be trying this one out!

Demi is a well known sponsor for the footwear brand Sketchers and she really knows how to rock them! I love seeing her little mini workouts on her snapchat, she is so fit and strong and I'm slowly working my way up to do some of the stuff that she is capable of.. after all strong is sexy! She also looks incredible in her gym clothes, this outfit in particular stands out to me, I love the bold print and the crop top shows off her abs perfectly!

Demi is not afraid to push boundaries, especially when she takes to the stage there are no rules! She always look so comfortable and confident in the clothes that she performs in and I honestly wish I could do what she does! I love this outfit in particular as it was featured in her 'Cool For The Summer' video. Her body looks insane in this outfit and she looks so cool, edgy and kinda like a badass.

This photo was taken a few years back, while Demi was mentoring on the X Factor in the US. The whole outfit was from Topshop and I think this is one of my favourite looks by her! I love that it's so colourful, young and summery but it has still got that edgy feel. Her hair and make-up as well are on point! She looks stunning!

Last week Demi made a massive statement at the billboard music awards, with her latest performance of 'Cool For The Summer'. In true Demi fashion, she rocked this all black ensemble, with knee high boots, gold accessories and an oversized sheer top with an inclusive bathroom symbol on. Weeks before her performance, herself and Nick Jonas pulled out a date from their 'Future Now Tour' in North Carolina over their unacceptance of the LGBTQ society, not only did the pair make a full statement over their social media accounts surrounding the issues but, Demi chose to take a public stand by wearing this shirt during her performance. A replica of this will be sold as merch on the 'Future Now Tour' and all proceeds will go to LGBTQ organisations in North Carolina. I really admire Demi for doing this, she's someone in the public eye speaking out for those who can't speak for themselves, it's amazing that she chose to do this and continues to do so! Hats off to you Demi!
